In the last 12 months, 31% of our global survey respondents have used at least one kind of mobility app. The largest share goes to apps for requesting a car ride: 18% have used one. Sharing a ride with a stranger or renting a bike for a short trip are less common; only 6% and 3%, respectively, have used an app for these kinds of transport in the past year.
Out of the 16 selected countries above, China (51%) has the highest share of transport app users. Unsurprisingly, countries like India (23%), Japan (21%), and Germany (20%), which have more stringent regulations against private car ride-sharing, round out the bottom of the list.
