Gender equality is one of the European Union’s founding values. A core aspect of gender equality is in the workplace and career opportunities. So do Europeans feel that women and men have the same opportunities for a successful career in their countries?

The answer differs widely, depending on whether you ask men or women. Across all European countries, women were much more skeptical than men: just over 5 in 10 women think that women have the same opportunities as men for a successful career in their country, compared to 7 out of 10 men.

It seems like despite Europe’s progress in gender equality, the glass ceiling has yet to be completely shattered.
