Charities rely on donations from individuals to carry out their work supporting disadvantaged groups in society, fighting for a cleaner environment or helping out in times of crisis. Opportunities to donate are plenty, but how often do we give to causes that are dear to us?

A majority (54%) of Europeans said they donate at least once a year, and 46% of Europeans said they rarely or never donate. Among the largest European countries, Britain had the highest share, with 75% saying they donate at least once a year (almost half of which donate at least monthly). Germans donate the least frequently, with only 41% donating at least once a year..
